Louise Brison Champagne Extra Brut 2016
Our absolute favourite Champagne house! A female-led family production that ONLY releases vintage Champagne. Winemaker Delphine Brulez’s commitment to terroir is impressive. This wine precise, structured and beautifully textured. The Extra Brut is bone dry, with bright acid, and fine bubbles. Skip the expensive Instagram wines, and taste how could TRUE grower’s Champagne can be!
Justin Girardin Bourgogne Blanc 2021
25 year old Chardonnay vines, hand harvested and aged half in stainless steel, half in older wood. This is a modern expression of white Burgundy. The fruit is ripe and full, and Justin is able to expertly balance the warmth of the wood with the liveliness of the fruit. (Most of which is from the village of Santenay - so it’s premium fruit at general appellation prices).
Justin Girardin ‘Vieilles Vignes’ Santenay Rouge 2021
Silky smooth, deep red-fruited Pinot Noir from Santenay, a premier village in the Cote de Beaune. This fruit is from 50 year old vines. De-stemmed and painfully sorted by hand for high quality, this wine is a great example of Burgundian elegance. Soft cherry aromas, and a haunting soft forest-floor savoury streak. This premier Burgundy is great to drink now, or to lay down for 3 or 4 years.
Chateau Moulin-Pey-Lebrie Canon Fronsac 2011
Beautiful Bordeaux from a producer we know well but haven't worked with before. They choose to only release their wines when they feel that they are at their best, and for this vintage 12 years is the sweet spot. Deep plum and prune flavours, with floral violet aromas, and an earthiness that feels fresh, like a light rain on a Spring morning. This is a Bordeaux that can impress the Robert Parker types for sure, but it also offers enough depth and intrigue that casual wine drinkers can enjoy it. Aged Bordeaux is magical, and this will show you why.
